Fatema Abdoolcarim's photography and installation work mainly focuses on childhood, memory and fantasy, culture and transitional stages in life. She is interested in working with different materials and textures in a rather instinctive manner and bringing those elements in to her photographic work, as a way to explore the ideas and issues that inspire her.

She is currently living and working in Hong Kong.
